McKinney is Collin County's original luxury address — and it has the mature trees, established landscaping, and architectural character to prove it. Whether you're adding a first pool to a Stonebridge Ranch home or refreshing a 15-year-old plaster shell in Tucker Hill, North Texas Custom Pools brings the same precision and craftsmanship to every McKinney project.
McKinney, Texas has a character that newer Collin County cities are still working to develop. The historic downtown district, the meandering streets of Stonebridge Ranch winding around three golf courses and dozens of ponds, the newer Craig Ranch homes positioned along preserved creek corridors — McKinney feels settled in a way that rewards design that's equally thoughtful.
Two distinct McKinney pool client profiles drive most of our work here. The first is the established homeowner in Stonebridge Ranch's original sections — homes built in the late 1990s through early 2010s — who finally has the backyard ready for a pool. These lots often have mature trees that provide natural shade corridors, and the homes themselves have the architectural personality that benefits from a design-forward pool rather than a production builder's spec. We spend real time on these projects because the setting rewards the investment.
The second profile is the homeowner with an existing pool that's aged past its useful life. McKinney has thousands of pools built in the 2000–2015 era that are now facing replaster, equipment replacement, or tile and coping work. While our core business is new construction, we handle complete renovation packages — full replaster, new equipment, tile and coping replacement, and automation upgrades — for Stonebridge Ranch and Tucker Hill homeowners who want their existing pool to look and perform like it was just built.
Craig Ranch, McKinney's most prestigious newer address off Craig Ranch Pkwy, represents a newer design sensibility that overlaps with what we build in Frisco — contemporary architecture, generous lots, and homeowners who research pool builders the same way they research architects. Our average Craig Ranch project mirrors our Frisco work: $75,000–$110,000 for a complete pool and spa with premium finish and full automation.
"A Stonebridge Ranch lot with mature live oaks filtering afternoon light is one of the most beautiful backdrops for a pool in North Texas. The right design honors that setting rather than competing with it."

Careful excavation around established root systems and existing hardscape. We've built alongside live oaks and cedar elms that stay standing, healthy, and beautiful throughout construction.
New builds and complete pool renovations — replaster, Pebble Tec overlay, and aggregate refinish for McKinney's aging pool stock. We apply every interior finish with our own certified crew.
New tile and coping that transforms a dated pool into a contemporary showpiece. Travertine, limestone, and quartzite options that complement McKinney's architectural vocabulary.
Variable-speed pump replacement, salt chlorine generator installation, and full app-based automation upgrades for McKinney pools that are overdue for modern equipment.
Covered pergolas, built-in grill stations, and fire features — timed to your pool construction so the entire backyard launches as a coordinated environment on day one.
The Donnellys had waited 11 years to add a pool to their original-section Stonebridge Ranch home — a two-story Tudor-influenced brick home on a lot shaded by three mature live oaks on the western edge. We designed around the shade rather than against it: a 520 sq ft classic freeform pool with a natural rock water feature, Pebble Tec Caribbean Blue finish, and a baja shelf positioned to catch the afternoon sun that filters through the trees. The travertine deck and coping were chosen to complement the brick and limestone exterior of the home. The Donnellys hosted their first party six weeks after water fill.
This Tucker Hill pool was 14 years old — the plaster was staining, the tile had been repaired three times, and the pump was single-speed and pre-digital. We completed a full renovation: stripped and replastered with Pebble Tec Onyx aggregate finish, replaced all waterline tile with contemporary charcoal glass mosaic, replaced the single-speed pump with a Pentair variable-speed unit saving approximately $820/year in electricity, added a salt chlorine generator, and installed IntelliCenter automation with an app-controlled interface. The deck received a travertine overlay over the existing concrete. The Kowalskis describe it as a completely new pool at a fraction of a rebuild cost.
